The brief
Who it’s for. What it needs to do.
A festival ballot has to work while the audience is still in the room.
The SF Queer Film Festival needed an audience-award experience for its 2026 event. Attendees needed a simple way to find the films and vote, while organizers needed a dependable close to voting and a clear way to publish the winners.
Cameron built the ballot and its supporting review tools around that real event. Shared venue Wi-Fi, a fixed closing time and the distinction between provisional votes and published results shaped the implementation.
Design decisions
A closer look at the choices behind the pages.
Keep the public experience focused
The public results page gives the winners a clear presentation. It is the final stage of a journey that began with an audience ballot. The design keeps the event identity and films central, with the interface doing the supporting work.
Make the end of voting a real boundary
Voting closes on the server at the event deadline. Organizer review happens before winners are published, and corrections leave a record. Those decisions support a public outcome that can be explained after the room has emptied.
The visitor journey
From the first question to the next step.
Open the event ballot
During the festival, an attendee followed the shared link or QR code into the voting experience.
Choose the film
The ballot organized the eligible films for the audience’s selection before the closing time.
Review and publish the result
Organizers reviewed the result before making the winners public. The live link now opens that published page.
Delivered work
What’s here, and what it demonstrates.
What was built
A working audience ballot, organizer review tools and a public winners page for the 2026 festival. The project handled an actual event deadline, with the final public result still available to explore.
The result in context
Post-event correspondence confirms the tool was used for the festival and the organizers were pleased with the help. There is no prior-year comparison or abandonment measurement in this case study.
